We originally planned a day trip from Queenstown that included a cruise of the Sound, but we changed our plans so we could fully enjoy the area and stayed two nights. Day trips can be long and tiring — often 12 to 13 hours round trip with an early start, a coach ride to the terminal, a cruise, and a long drive back.
