About This Salad Recipe

This simple salad blends the sweet juiciness of pears with the creamy tang of goat cheese and the satisfying crunch of walnuts. With pears showing up in CSA boxes at the end of summer and into early fall, this recipe is a lovely way to use them.

If you’re not used to fruit in salads, you might be hesitant — my husband prefers his salads without fruit too. For me, though, the combination of sweet pear and salty cheese is a delicious balance. This salad delivers that contrast in flavor and texture.

Ingredients You Will Need

You will need:
– Greens or lettuce of your choice (I like Little Leaf Farms mixes)
– Pears, thinly sliced
– Goat cheese, crumbled
– Walnuts, chopped
– Optional toppings: gluten-free croutons, dried cranberries

Feel free to customize: shredded carrots, sunflower seeds or pepitas, and red cabbage all work well. Add leftover grilled chicken for extra protein if you want a heartier meal.

Dressing For This Salad

I prefer simple dressings — a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a squeeze of fresh lemon is all you need to let the pears and goat cheese shine. If you want a light vinaigrette, use your favorite homemade recipe, but the olive oil and lemon combination keeps the salad bright and fresh.

How To Make This Pear & Goat Cheese Salad

This salad is quick to assemble: combine the greens, sliced pear, crumbled goat cheese, and chopped walnuts in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon, season with salt and pepper, toss gently, and serve.
