I grew up in a rural area of northeast France where winters were long and snowy. That upbringing fostered my love of snow and wintry landscapes, and I began skiing as a child. Skiing has stayed with me ever since—it’s one of my greatest passions.
Last September I traveled to Ireland with Angela to lead an Ace Camp; we had such a great time that before we left we agreed to plan another workshop together. We both wanted something that appealed to us equally and that embraced winter—Angela being Canadian and, frankly, I am a bit of a snow addict myself.
We are delighted to announce a food styling and photography workshop at Lake Memphremagog in Québec this March. The workshop draws on the best of early spring in the Eastern Townships: maple sugar season, a historic Victorian mansion on the lake, a snowshoe picnic in Parc National du Mont-Orford, and opportunities to style and photograph iconic winter dishes such as raclette and fondue savoyarde. The food will be prepared by chef Alison Bell, who has a Master’s Degree in Gastronomy.
This three-day workshop with Béatrice Peltre will take place in the small town of Georgeville, Quebec. The program emphasizes styling for entertaining, staging outdoor snow picnics, and a visit to a sugar house (cabane à sucre) to learn about maple syrup production. It’s a hands-on chance to explore Quebec’s seasonal cuisine while developing practical styling and photographic techniques.
Participants should bring an SLR camera and have a basic understanding of photography fundamentals—aperture, exposure, and shutter speed. A tripod and a laptop with photo-editing software are recommended but not mandatory.
If you’re interested in joining, please visit Ace Camps for details on registration and pricing. Angela can answer any questions about the workshop and logistics.
We look forward to meeting you. Winter is a wonderful season to create, photograph, and celebrate food.
Last year, P., Lulu, and I traveled with friends to Mont Tremblant, Québec, for a ski vacation. The photographs in this post are from that trip—memories of crisp air, snowy trails, and the joy of a winter getaway.
What a beautiful trip it was.
