Ingredients:
1 tablespoon margarine
2 garlic cloves, minced
3/4 cup basmati rice, uncooked
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons thinly sliced green onion tops
1 tablespoon minced fresh basil
1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme
3 tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese
Directions:
Melt the margarine in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, taking care not to let the garlic brown.
Stir in the basmati rice until it is evenly coated with margarine and fragrant.
Pour in the water and add the salt, then bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
Cover the pan, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the rice has absorbed the liquid and is tender.
Remove from heat and gently fold in the sliced green onion tops, minced basil, and minced thyme.
Finish by sprinkling the freshly grated Parmesan cheese over the rice and serve warm.
