Growing Sweet Peas: Tips for Vibrant Blooms and Fragrant Vines

A charming Valentine’s Day treat your sweetheart will adore. These “sweet peas” are simple to make and perfect for gifting or topping cupcakes.

What you’ll need:

• SweetWorks gumballs
• Apple Laffy Taffy
• Conversation Hearts that say “Sweet Pea”
• Black edible marker
• Small heart sprinkles

Instructions:

1. Use the black edible marker to draw a small smiley face on two gumballs.
2. Warm a piece of apple Laffy Taffy in the microwave for about 7 seconds, or until it becomes soft and pliable. Times may vary by microwave—heat just until it’s easy to shape.
3. On a clean surface, flatten the softened taffy into an oval about the size needed to wrap around two gumballs. Place the two decorated gumballs on the taffy with a “Sweet Pea” conversation heart positioned between them.
4. Gently fold and mold the taffy around the gumballs so the assembly resembles a little pea pod, leaving the faces and the heart visible in the center.
5. Add a finishing bow by pressing a small dab of softened taffy onto one gumball and arranging two small heart sprinkles with their points touching to form the bow shape.

These sweet pea treats make adorable cupcake toppers or standalone favors for Valentine’s Day, baby showers, or fun parties.
