How to Make Perfect Boiled Eggs in an Air Fryer

Air Fryer Boiled Eggs offer a simple, waterless method for making consistently well-cooked eggs. Using an air fryer delivers reliable results and avoids the greenish yolks that can occur when eggs are overcooked on the stove.

Calling them “boiled eggs” is just a familiar way to describe whole cooked eggs, even though no water is used. Air fryers are great for straightforward tasks like this: you can cook eggs to your preferred doneness in minutes with minimal fuss.

I prefer the air fryer because it produces consistent results and bright yellow yolks. If your eggs are older they can sometimes behave differently, so when using an older batch I cook a couple first to confirm the timing before preparing a large batch for something like deviled eggs.

Can the eggs be cold, right out of the fridge?

Yes. I typically place cold, refrigerated eggs straight into the air fryer basket and cook them from there.

Some of my eggs cracked, is this normal?

Cracks happen occasionally. I rarely get a batch with no cracked shells at all. If you notice many cracked or ruptured eggs, try lowering the cooking temperature slightly to reduce the risk.

Can I make air fryer soft-cooked eggs?

Yes. For soft-cooked eggs, start with 10 minutes at the recommended temperature; about 12 minutes yields a medium set yolk. Air fryer models vary, so test one or two eggs to dial in the exact time you prefer.

After a couple of trials you’ll find the timing that produces your ideal texture.

  • Place eggs in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

  • When the cycle finishes, transfer the eggs carefully to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking.

Notes

The temperature and time listed work for a Ninja Foodi; models vary. Test 1–2 eggs first, then adjust the time for your air fryer to achieve the exact doneness you want.
