A strawberry green smoothie packed full of good-for-you ingredients

This is an updated take on a longtime favorite: a strawberry banana green smoothie. I refreshed the photos and refined the recipe to make it even better, so I wanted to share the improved version.

If you haven’t tried green smoothies, this strawberry green smoothie is a great introduction. It’s a delicious, easy way to add leafy greens to your diet without changing texture or flavor much—perfect for kids and anyone who wants a quick nutrient boost.

Not every smoothie works well with greens: some berry-and-spinach blends turn a dull brown. This recipe keeps a pleasant color while tasting fresh and fruity. A small dollop of yogurt brightens the flavor and, combined with hemp seeds, adds a good dose of protein. Use coconut milk yogurt for a dairy-free, paleo or vegan option.

The recipe makes a generous portion. If you’re making it for one, halve the recipe or share it—either way it’s filling. Even half the recipe provides a substantial amount of protein and iron while staying around 300 calories, so it makes a balanced breakfast with a couple of hard-boiled eggs or a small snack on the go.

Feel free to experiment with ingredient amounts to suit your taste. Swap or adjust the milk to reach your preferred consistency. If your fruit is fully frozen, add a little more milk to help it blend smoothly.
